Examples how RoutineLab Timer helps you start and keep going

A timer app is only useful if it stays out of your way. RoutineLab Timer focuses on a clear interface and a predictable flow.

Studying (time-boxing)

When studying, the goal is to divide your time intentionally: per session, per topic, and sometimes across weeks. RoutineLab helps you time-box, for example 25m focus and 5m pause. So your structure becomes repeatable and you don’t have to plan from scratch every time. Cycles help here too: one focus block + break as a set, four cycles, and you immediately have a full study session you can easily adjust later.

Drawing / creative writing

When you draw or write, it’s easy to rush into the ‘pretty’ part (rendering before the foundation is set), or to keep polishing the same piece forever. With RoutineLab Timer, you break your process into clear blocks (for example: sketch → composition → values → render, or brainstorm → outline → first draft → edit). You keep the rhythm of your workflow. With cycles, you can repeat a block without copying—like three 10-minute sketch rounds—and if you change one step, it updates across all repetitions instantly.

Running

Running is often about rhythm: work/rest, pace, and repetition. RoutineLab Timer makes intervals and transitions simple, with clear cues at the right moment, without constantly watching your screen. With cycles, you can build interval sets in one go: create “Go!” (1 min) and “Easy” (2 min), set it to 6 cycles, and you’ve got a complete interval workout without duplicating the same steps six times.

Found a routine that works? Save it as a template and/or share it, so you can reuse it instantly later.

Features

Simple, intuitive timer with clear controls

A simple player that shows, at a glance, where you are, what’s next, and how much time is left. With clear buttons, you can pause, continue, or jump to another block without distractions.

Build, save, and manage your custom routines with a powerful editor

The editor lets you build routines with steps, durations, and repetition. You can also use cycles: a small set of steps you repeat as a unit (for example: “Go!” + “Easy” × 6), without copying everything. Change one step once, and it updates across all repetitions.

Custom TTS speech, beep, vibrate, or display text triggers (actions)

For each block, choose how you’re guided: TTS, beep, vibration, or text only. You can also choose when an action triggers within the block (with offsets), so you can get a cue just before a transition.

Save your routines as templates and reuse them

Save routines as templates to create variants and start faster without rebuilding.

Export and import and share routines as smart PDF files

Export and import routines, and share them as smart PDF files that open directly in RoutineLab Timer. Handy for exchanging routines, archiving, or using them on another device (premium).

Briefly lowers the volume level of other audio applications (like Spotify) for audio action triggers

If you listen to music during your routine, your flow stays intact: when spoken actions play, the volume of other audio apps (like Spotify) briefly dips so the cue is clear. Then it automatically returns to normal.

Dark theme included

Dark mode is included or can follow the Android system theme. Great for evenings, long sessions, and fewer distractions.
